Tyre Addition For Midget/MiniRok/Junior Classes

One thing Kartsport SA prides itself on is listening to the karters and doing our best to make changes they want.

We have had requests from parents that if we allow the current Bridgestone/Dunlop tyre to be run alongside our Maxxis that they would love to come out and support us. We have taken the decision to allow this for this weekends meeting. So if you have a son or daughter who is currently racing or has the gear to do so head over to our website and get them entered! 😁

Our Midget/MiniRok classes can run Bridgestone and our junior classes can run Dunlop alongside the Maxxis tyre. To allow parents more time to get a set of Maxxis (new or used) we plan to continue use of mixed tyres for our next meeting also.

Currently in SA the 7-9 years old classes have really suffered and struggling to get numbers. That age group just a few years ago was one of the biggest classes and without those kids coming in and moving up the sport will struggle to grow. We want to see this class grow and help bring in (and back) kids and their families to enjoy this great sport at a truly affordable grassroots level and we think this decision is a step in the right direction.

Race Entries Open – February 2nd

Entries for our first race meeting of 2019 are now open. 

Head to the ‘Racing’ tab on our site and click ‘Enter Race Meeting’ .

Select meeting (February 2nd) and fill in the required information. Due to our Results System, zero (0) cannot be used as a race number and two digit numbers cannot start with a zero eg ’05’. 

Kartsport SA offers both cash payment or bank transfer for the race entry fee of $25. Bank transfer is preferred.  

A redirect to the AKRA website will take place after terms and conditions have been accepted. There the remaining $25 required to cover your day license and insurance will be required.

Please print a copy of these transactions ($25 entry via bank transfer and $25 license and insurance AKRA payment) and present them at sign on. If cash payment for entry is made on the day only the AKRA transaction copy will be required.

We’re back!!!

First race meeting of 2019 is confirmed!

The only major change from last year are regarding tyres, with Maxxis Sport tyres being our tyre of choice for Kartsport SA classes in 2019 (kids, juniors, clubman, Statesman etc). TaG Restricted and TaG classes are still able to run DFM and MG Yellows respectively (*transition period only) and 4SS can also run the Vega alongside the Maxxis. As these classes are som…e of the most supported classes in karting in SA at the moment the decision was made to allow these tyres so drivers can easily run between the two active karting associations in SA.

Maxxis tyres are a more affordable and longer lasting tyre with minimal drop off from new and don’t ‘go off’ as quickly when not run for some time. They offer what karters asked us for, value for money. We could have gone for a cheap tyre or a hard compound tyre but they offered little in the way of grip. We found Maxxis to be the best middle ground. No point having power if you don’t stick to the track right? Tyres will be available from select kart shops soon.

Please keep in mind our rules are flexible and your feedback is important to us. For example if karters running with Kartsport SA aren’t enjoy running mixed tyres in the TaG classes, we can change it. Nothing is locked in and we are more than happy to listen to your feedback and make the changes you want.

We have a full calendar coming soon but for now race one is locked in and ready to go. We look forward to seeing you all back trackside in 2019 and we are aiming for a big year of racing!!!
