You will need either:
a) An annual AASA licence is required. This costs $120 / year and the application can be done as part of your race entry, or
b) A current Karting Australia competition licence.

Will I be covered by Insurance?

Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance are provided by AASA. For details about the cover provided, including how to make a claim can be found on the AASA website here – www.aasa.com.au/insurance/

What class do I run if mine is not listed?

Our ‘Open’ class would generally cover most engine, kart and tyre combinations but your welcome to email us with details of what you have and we can assist you fitting into one of our categories. Email kartsportsa@outlook.com

How can we practice at the host track?

We are offering practice prior to the race meeting where possible but this is track dependent.

Why isn’t there a ‘KA100’ class?

Of all the Kartsport SA classes almost every engine will fit into one of them. Specifically regarding the KA100 engines, due to low numbers in SA we are not offering a class just for that engine. The engine can be run Junior Open, and in the KT100S + KA100 class. See Class & Tech Rules for more info.

Will I require a medical?

No, there are a few medical questions on the licence application form that you will complete, but you can answer all of them for yourself.

Where can I find a list of rules?

They are on our website under the heading Racing. The engine rules are a close copy of the AIDKA rules, which are more simplified than any bitumen rules of the recent past. Please note, these rules are updated from time to time and we will notify people via Facebook and this website of changes as they happen.

What type of apparel will I require?

The usual karting apparel of a full face helmet, full fingered gloves, shoes that cover the ankles and a one piece zip-up driving suit.

Will I require a transponder, plastic rear bar, drop down front bar or cameras?

None of the above are required. Lap scoring will be done manually so a transponder is not required. All other items mentioned above are allowed if you have them but they are not compulsory.

I usually run dirt karts, what type of bitumen kart requirements will I need?

The biggest differences are slick tyres and a plastic nosecone. Your helmet will also need to be a full-face road going style motorcycle helmet. The motocross style helmet with goggles are not allowed.
