What Tyres do I use?
Maxxis Sport (white) tyres are the control tyre for most classes run by us. The ‘Open’ class can run any tyre and the 4 stroke class can run the Vega tyre alongside the Maxxis as performance is similar.
Do I need a Kartsport SA licence if I already have a KA, CAMS or AIDKA licence?
Yes. A ‘day license’ is included in your entry fee of $60. You can now purchase a 12 month license for $120. This is only valid from January until December each year. If you run 4 or more meetings with us in a 12 month period, it’s a great option. You can also run practice days (coming soon) and run in any AKRA event held in Australia with this yearly license.
What class do I run if mine is not listed?
Our ‘Open’ class would generally cover most engine, kart and tyre combinations but your welcome to email us with details of what you have and we can assist you fitting into one of our categories. Email kartsportsa@outlook.com
How can we practice at the host track?
We are offering practice prior to the race meeting where possible but this will be track dependent. We are planning to hold practice days throughout the year which will be free to 12 month Kartsport SA license holders or $35 for a day license.

Why isn’t there a ‘KA100’ class?
Of all the Kartsport SA classes almost every engine will fit into one of them. Specifically regarding the KA100 engines, due to low numbers in SA we are not offering a class just for that engine. The engine can be run in our ‘Open’ class however. We will look into the possibility of restricting this engine to run alongside a Yamaha KT engine (currently in progress).
Will I require a medical?
No, there are a few medical questions on the license application form that you will complete, but you can answer all of them for yourself.
Where can I find a list of rules?
They are on our website under the heading Racing. The engine rules are a close copy of the AIDKA rules, which are more simplified than any bitumen rules of the recent past. Please note, these rules are updated from time to time and we will notify people via Facebook and this website of changes as they happen.
What point scoring system will be used?
The 401 for 1st place less 10% recurring down thru the placing’s. Points awarded for DNF (depending on class numbers) with zero points awarded for DNS and DSQ.
What type of apparel will I require?
The usual karting apparel of a full face helmet, full fingered gloves, shoes that cover the ankles and a one piece zip-up driving suit.
Will I require a transponder, plastic rear bar, drop down front bar or cameras?
None of the above are required. Lap scoring will be done manually so a transponder is not required. All other items mentioned above are allowed if you have them but they are not compulsory.
I usually run dirt karts, what type of bitumen kart requirements will I need?
The biggest differences are slick tyres and a plastic nosecone. Your helmet will also need to be a full-face road going style motorcycle helmet, the motocross style helmet with goggles are not allowed.
